Use of AI scribe tools in your appointment

Our Practice may use AI scribe tools to help clinicians focus more on you during your consultation.

AI Scribe is a secure tool that listens to your consultation and produces a written summary for your clinician to check. This helps the clinician concentrate on your conversation rather than typing notes during the appointment.

Why are we using it?

AI Scribe supports clinicians with accurate note‑taking, reduces administrative time, and helps improve the overall quality of your consultation.

What does this mean for you?

Your clinician will tell you at the start of the consultation if AI Scribe will be used.

You will always be asked for your consent before any recording takes place.

The tool creates a summary only - it does not make decisions, store audio, or replace the clinician’s judgement.

Only your clinician can see, review, and approve the final version of the note before it is saved to your medical record.

Your privacy and data

AI Scribe is designed with NHS‑grade security. The audio is processed in real time and is not stored. All processing is carried out in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

How do I give or refuse consent?

You will be asked during your appointment if you agree to AI Scribe being used. If you are not comfortable, you can decline - this will not affect your care or the quality of your consultation.
