N-Vision - Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre Society for the Blind Clinic
N-Vision aim to provide holistic support to people living with sight loss; including general advice, provision of audio services like books and newspapers, referral to rehabilitation officers if necessary and running low vision clinics where they are able to prescribe aids such as magnifiers. Care and Repair
Did you know that Wyre Borough Council offer this service to all residents of Wyre and Fylde aged over 60 or anybody with a disability? This is a free service offering advice on a whole range of household repairs or adaptations. They can also supply a Handy Person (for which there is a small charge) to help with tasks such as changing light bulbs, fitting smoke alarms, fixing trip hazards, installing key safes etc. For more information please telephone 01253 887569 or visit the Wyre.gov website
Citizens Advice additional out of hours Adviceline support for Wyre residents
Funded by Wyre Council, Citizens Advice Lancashire West is launching additional extended hours Adviceline support for Wyre residents.
Given the additional needs presenting within the community due to the pandemic, residents are now able to contact our new local Extended Hours service with the lines being open 4.30 - 7pm, Monday to Friday and 9am - 1pm Saturday and Sunday.
We can help with issues around benefits, housing and relationships. We also offer debt support, help if you are struggling to pay your energy bills and can make referrals to local food banks. We can also refer you to Wyre Council for help with assisted bin collections, council tax support, discretionary housing payments and any other council related issues.
Local residents can call 01253 775196 and speak to someone who can help them access the right help and be directed to the most relevant organisation.
Single Point of Contact for Advocacy in Lancashire
Single Point of Contact for Advocacy in Lancashire is an independent, free and confidential service. Advocacy exists to support people to take action by empowering them to speak up for themselves, their rights and wishes, in order to obtain the services they need and so improving their quality of life.
Single Point of Contact for Advocacy in Lancashire work across the county as part of Carers Lancashire
providing support and information to Adult Carers (18+) and specialist support to Carers of Adults (16+) with
a Mental Health Condition.

Heartbeat North West Cardiac Care
Heartbeat is a Lancashire based charity who aims to contribute to a reduction in cardiovascular disease, founded in 1978.
Situated in Preston, the charity provides a range of workshops, advice, clinical testing, rehabilitation, education and support to young people and adults across the region that have existing heart problems or at a risk of developing.
Heartbeat is an independent charity that is funded solely from donations and fundraising, it works alongside other charities such as The British Heart Foundation to deliver the best possible service to its participants.
To access their support you can be referred by a clinician or self-refer if you fit under their criteria explained on their website.
Cancer Help Preston (Croston House, Garstang)
Croston House is situated on Croston Road in Garstang and accepts referrals from the local community (both self referrals and from health care professionals). Croston House is the Garstang site of the charity Cancer Help Preston (their other site is Vine House in Preston). Croston House is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
They offer support to:
- People diagnosed with cancer - at any stage of their cancer journey
- Carers of those diagnosed with cancer
- People bereaved by a cancer death
Creative Calm Workshops
"Creative Calm" is a social group focused on using creativity to help those trying to cope with mental health issues/ those struggling with the impact Covid has had on isolation/ work related stress etc.
Creative Calm was previously hosted within the surgery but unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic we are currently unable to accommodate. Thankfully Diane has kindly managed to host it elsewhere in order for our patients to attend again.
The group meets every Wednesday from 10am-1pm in Churchtown to do something art and craft related. No experience or artistic ability is required . Numbers are strictly limited due to Covid and room space but everyone is welcome to join when there is space.
Places must be confirmed before attendance to ensure Covid safety.
Refreshments will be provided.

Togetherall provides a clinically safe and anonymous online community providing peer to peer support, personal assessments and self-help courses for those who need it.
